On Sleeping, Bed & Bedding

I haven’t been sleeping very well this week: I go off to sleep OK, but wake in the middle of the night and can’t drop off again.  Last night was no exception – I woke up at 4 am, far too hot, and couldn’t settle again.  I knew the alarm would be going off at 5 as Ashley had to get up early to catch a flight to Manchester, so that didn’t help.

I eventually gave up trying to sleep at around 4.45 and got up, made a cup of tea, and dealt with the contents of my email inbox, before going back to bed with a magazine.  Eventually felt dog-tired again at about 6.30, so dozed for half an hour until it was time to get up (again!).

I do love my bed, though …. as I’ve told you on numerous occasions before, I’m sure!

Anyway, I was recently sent a cushion by Dorma, the bedlinen people, from their new Jaipur range (in pic above).  As I’m already a firm fan of Dorma, it’s an easy job for me to wax lyrical about their products!  The very first bedding set I bought for my first flat was made by Dorma, and it lasted for YEARS.  In fact I only got rid of it in the end because the design was looking rather dated.  I passed it on to Ashley’s mother, who still has it, as far as I know!  Dorma bedding certainly isn’t cheap, but it is fantastic quality, and looking through their website, there is a whole wealth of designs to choose from.

I currently have two sets of bedding which I alternate on my bed: one from Dorma and one from Monsoon (another company who make lovely quality bedding).   When I’ve finished writing this, I’m going to change my sheets, and get clean pyjamas ready for this evening, when I shall be getting into bed at around 7.30 (second time this week – it’s becoming a habit), surrounded by magazines, books, the TV remote and perhaps a nice mug of hot choc  Oh, the latest DVD offering from Lovefilm – Neighbours: Iconic Episodes of the 80s.  My God, is there no end to the excitement in my life?!

  1. You and me both! Mind you I have been woken up by my husband snoring and as I had forgoten to put my ear plugs in! Normally I can drop off again, but I think with all the jobs to do in my head it was buzzing and I couldn’t drop off again.
Hope you enjoyed your trip to town and managed to find a couple of charity shop bargains.

  2. I love clean sheets day, can’t wait to get in there, bed is such a great place to be. I’m sleeping badly too, snoring husband and Christmas tunes in my head, not a good combination. Sleep well soon.

  3. Me too.. clean sheets and clean PJ’s…

Plus right there with you on the early nights and books at the moment, must be the dark nights!

  4. I am also waking about 4am every day, what is wrong with us? I am asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow, so like you, no problem there. I tend to nod off just as 6am is approaching which is when my alarm goes off and feel like crap all day thereafter!
