The Return of Sunday Car Booty

A lovely sunny morning, and I was happy to skip out of bed when the alarm went off at 6.30, with the thought of all those bargains awaiting me.  I was not disappointed, and staggered home just before half past eight with three big bags full to bursting with lovely shopping!

Next gift set £2, Tigi hair products 50p  the pair, small Next gift set 50p.

Two Sandwich skirts (£1 for the purple denim one, £3 for the linen one), White Stuff linen trousers (I didn’t notice the bleached bottoms when I picked them up, but can sort them with an iron and a bit of Wundaweb!) £2, Sandwich top £1.

Shoes (sorry for the crap picture) – Next bronze wedges 50p, Limited Collection M&S wedges £2, New Look navy and white wedges 50p.

Gorgeous Hobbs pink satin shoes, £4.  Shame I can’t quite squeeze my feet into a size 4 otherwise they’d be in my wardrobe like a shot!

Pink Adidas trainers 50p, vintage 80s Lilley & Skinner red heels £1, Monsoon silver ballet pumps 50p.

Evans top for me, I think – £2.  Will be lovely for summer, it’s that fine gauzy cotton fabric.  And look at the lovely, lovely shoes.  THEY’RE MY SIZE!  They’re M&S, but have a really vintage feel – I remember my grandmother wearing similar block heel peep toe shoes, and they remind me a bit of 1940s fashion.  An absolute bargainous £2!  I will have to part with a pair of shoes in order to keep these, as the shoe situation in my bedroom is beyond a joke.

Next Lift Off rocket design clock and wall hanging storage thingy – £1 each.

Country Companions cross stitch kit £1, and brand new boxed Morgan watch £2.

Blue polka dot bead necklace and hanging beaded heart, 50p each.  The heart’s for my office wall, and I may just hang onto the necklace, as it’s so cute.

Joules Junior pac-a-mac 50p, and DIY straw creativity kit (it just took my fancy) 50p.

An EPIC morning’s bootying, if I do say so myself.  I’m off for a sit down in the sunshine with a cup of tea and a bacon sarnie.

Sunday Car Booty

Cold again this morning, and lots of buyers pushing and shoving – not my kind of car boot at all!  Still, I think it was worth it – here’s today’s purchases:

First up, a whole bunch of kids clothes from Monsoon & Mini Boden – £1 per item, apart from small boy’s t shirt which was 20p.  All to sell.

3 tubs of Lush creams (various different).  I’m keeping the Lemony Flutter cuticle butter (how cute is that name?!), and selling the other two.  Paid £1 each.

2 pairs of shoes – brand new black ones from New Look, £1, to sell, and very lightly used red ones wide fit by Hush Puppies, 50p to sell.

Handbags: red River Island with charm, £1.50, and black (rather plasticky) one from Next £1.  Both to sell.

Gorgeous cocktail dress from Monsoon, I paid £4.  And it’s my size.  But I’m not sure about brown.  So it’ll probably be sold.  Perfect condition, but needs a good airing.

And last but not least, a Cath Kidston toiletries gift set, brand new, £4.  More than I’d normally pay, but Cath Kidston stuff is SOOOOO  popular (not my cup of tea, but even so), that I thought this was well worth it.  It’ll be stored away to be sold before next Christmas, when it will hopefully make me a healthy profit!  And now, because I know how many avid Cath fans there are out there, a close-up of the contents for you:

And that is all for today, folks!  The sun has just come out, and I need to go and make my second cuppa and make some plans for Sunday.

On Sleeping, Bed & Bedding

I haven’t been sleeping very well this week: I go off to sleep OK, but wake in the middle of the night and can’t drop off again.  Last night was no exception – I woke up at 4 am, far too hot, and couldn’t settle again.  I knew the alarm would be going off at 5 as Ashley had to get up early to catch a flight to Manchester, so that didn’t help.

I eventually gave up trying to sleep at around 4.45 and got up, made a cup of tea, and dealt with the contents of my email inbox, before going back to bed with a magazine.  Eventually felt dog-tired again at about 6.30, so dozed for half an hour until it was time to get up (again!).

I do love my bed, though …. as I’ve told you on numerous occasions before, I’m sure!

Anyway, I was recently sent a cushion by Dorma, the bedlinen people, from their new Jaipur range (in pic above).  As I’m already a firm fan of Dorma, it’s an easy job for me to wax lyrical about their products!  The very first bedding set I bought for my first flat was made by Dorma, and it lasted for YEARS.  In fact I only got rid of it in the end because the design was looking rather dated.  I passed it on to Ashley’s mother, who still has it, as far as I know!  Dorma bedding certainly isn’t cheap, but it is fantastic quality, and looking through their website, there is a whole wealth of designs to choose from.

I currently have two sets of bedding which I alternate on my bed: one from Dorma and one from Monsoon (another company who make lovely quality bedding).   When I’ve finished writing this, I’m going to change my sheets, and get clean pyjamas ready for this evening, when I shall be getting into bed at around 7.30 (second time this week – it’s becoming a habit), surrounded by magazines, books, the TV remote and perhaps a nice mug of hot choc  Oh, the latest DVD offering from Lovefilm – Neighbours: Iconic Episodes of the 80s.  My God, is there no end to the excitement in my life?!

Friday Shopping Spot

Woken up this morning feeling generally under the weather and with a rotten headache, so once I’ve finished this post, I’m going to do the hoovering, have a tidy round, and then curl up on the sofa, methinks.  William’s been struggling with a horrible cold all week, so perhaps I’ve got that coming – just in time for the weekend – lovely!

Anyway, without further ado, here’s some more of my recently shopping highlights:

First up, these fab winter boots I picked up for William in Asda this week for only £12.  He’s been mooching round in Crocs or school trainers since the summer (apart from his school shoes) so I thought it was about time I bought him something more suited to our current weather!  He even likes them – result!

I popped into Richley’s last week (not one of my usual shopping stops, but my car was parked right next door, as I was picking up my new bedroom lights from the shop next door, and as they had a huge sign proclaiming a big closing down sale, I just had to go and have a quick nosy.  Very worthwhile as it turned out, as I picked up two of these pretty summer dresses (Monsoon) and three of these Per Una skirts, all to sell on Ebay, for the absolute rock bottom price of £1 each!  Was jolly glad I went in after all!

And last but not least, but lovely new bedroom lights.  I am so pleased with my bedroom, just the finishing few touches to complete now, and it will be done.  Please excuse the appalling bottom photo, I wanted to show you how the bedside lights look on and off, but it hasn’t come out brilliantly.  They look much better in real life, I promise.

Sunday Car Booty

What a struggle to get out of bed this morning – I SO didn’t want to climb out from under my duvet!  Anyway, I did, and here’s today’s rundown:

Per Una cardigan, 50p to sell

A good morning’s booty-ing. Plans for the rest of Sunday include menu planning for the week and sorting out an internet shop, gettting rid of the pile of stuff that has grown out of my in tray onto my desk, and later on I’m going to watch High School Musical with Will, and catch up on Strictly Come Dancing, which I recorded last night.

Have a great Sunday, everybody! xx
