I Blame Kat …

… from The Book It List, for my total failure to stick to my goal of not buying myself anything in January.  Let me explain further – Kat mentioned a while ago on Twitter that she had a new grey nail polish.  Somehow this took my fancy, and I couldn’t get it out of my head.

So, on one of the few occasions when I’ve braved the snow and ice to leave the house in the past week, I went to Asda to get bread and milk, and found myself buying a perfect matte dove grey nail polish (only £1.50).

This seemed to open the floodgates, and yesterday whilst in Sainsburys, I found myself buying a pair of grey leggings (cold weather, needed them to go under skirts and jeans blah blah).

Then last night, I bought a pair of boots online from Aldo (just gone into the sale, and I’d had my eye on them for ages, AND the pretend leather on my current black boots is starting to crease and peel off – nice).

As I type this, it is once again snowing outside, today’s car boot sale has been cancelled, and yet another long day of being housebound stretches in front of us.  God only knows what else I’ll have bought by tonight!

Friday Shopping Spot

Woken up this morning feeling generally under the weather and with a rotten headache, so once I’ve finished this post, I’m going to do the hoovering, have a tidy round, and then curl up on the sofa, methinks.  William’s been struggling with a horrible cold all week, so perhaps I’ve got that coming – just in time for the weekend – lovely!

Anyway, without further ado, here’s some more of my recently shopping highlights:

First up, these fab winter boots I picked up for William in Asda this week for only £12.  He’s been mooching round in Crocs or school trainers since the summer (apart from his school shoes) so I thought it was about time I bought him something more suited to our current weather!  He even likes them – result!

I popped into Richley’s last week (not one of my usual shopping stops, but my car was parked right next door, as I was picking up my new bedroom lights from the shop next door, and as they had a huge sign proclaiming a big closing down sale, I just had to go and have a quick nosy.  Very worthwhile as it turned out, as I picked up two of these pretty summer dresses (Monsoon) and three of these Per Una skirts, all to sell on Ebay, for the absolute rock bottom price of £1 each!  Was jolly glad I went in after all!

And last but not least, but lovely new bedroom lights.  I am so pleased with my bedroom, just the finishing few touches to complete now, and it will be done.  Please excuse the appalling bottom photo, I wanted to show you how the bedside lights look on and off, but it hasn’t come out brilliantly.  They look much better in real life, I promise.

Saturday Shopping Spot

OK, so it’s late, but hey … Saturday, Friday … what does it matter?!

The weather here has been absolutely atrocious with gale force winds, driving rain and general unpleasantness.  I imagine the car boot sale will be cancelled tomorrow morning, which will mean about six weeks since I last went to one – I’m getting withdrawal symptoms!  All this bad weather has made my thoughts tunr towards booking holidays for next summer ….

Anyway, talking of holidays (oooh, good segue Caroline!) this week I’m going to show you a couple of things I treated myself to on the plane when we flew to Antigua:

This is a rather lovely eye shadow compact by Bobbi Brown, with some lovely shimmery colours which I used while I was away on holiday.  I bought it to replace a Boots No 7 one that I’d had for ages, and dropped on the bathroom floor while packing to go on hols: unfortunately it smashed to smithereens, and took bloody ages to clean up – I’ve still got glittery bits all over the bathroom!  I’m doubly pleased with this new compact, as I will actually use all the colours in it – so often when you buy something like this, there are one or two favourites, and the others will never get used.

Next up, I did rather treat myself to this fab pair of Jo Malone perfumes – Grapefruit, and Lime, Basil & Mandarin.  You only need a tiny squirt, though, as the aroma is so intense, so they’ll last for ages.  I love-love-love the box they came in, too – made to look like a carrier bag – how cute is that!

And lastly for this week, my gorgeous new satiny pyjamas from Matalan (only £10), which have caused Ashley to start calling me Spotty.  I love these so much – I wonder if I could get away with wearing them when our friends come over for dinner this evening …?!
